I am from Calcutta and I know people whose relatives have died in the AMRI fire. It was a horrible experience. Even now when I pass beside the hospital, I cannot remove my eyes from the blackened walls and the closed doors. It was the worst things that Calcutta saw in ages. I hope no other city or hospital never ever face accidents like this.

Hell, there were those who lived through the recession and were forced to leave for the des sooner than they expected to because their Visas ran out. But they did it and did it the RIGHT WAY. No shortcuts!"

This brought tears in my eyes because yes I had to go through every ordeal to make it to United States. I have FOUGHT with my university professors back home in India because they were jealous and refused to give me a bloody recommendation letter even though I had a reasonably good score of 1310 in GRE and 103 in TOEFL. I fought with the entire system to obtain 3 LORs. Then a professor flunked me in a particular subject and I went to the visa consulate while rechecking was in process and I was sure that I wouldn't be granted a visa but I got one miraculously. When I came here, I had to compromise on my standard of living. I couldn't grab a job on campus because there were too many students fighting for it. I lived with disgusting people who would kill each other for a cent. I tried working off campus for one week and realized the owner was an asshole cause he gave me 60 bucks for one week (14 hours of standing everyday) so I quit immediately. Annoying professors to interfering landlords..I have seen it all..Today I have my work permit and IM about to start work . Hard work is definitely paying off and I am glad I took no shortcuts...

Her father is Indian and she is American. She has no connection to India and was raised by her mother. Enough said. My father is Irish and my mother is an American of Irish descent but I do not consider myself Irish. I am an American.

Judging from the reactions, Mumbaikars are at the point where they shrug their shoulders and move on with life. Mumbai gets attacked, there is outrage for a while, then people move on to the next controversy. It's become a vicious cycle and unfortunately shows no sign of abating.

Remember a lot of gypsies migrated from what was north western India including the Punjab region, and in modern day it's Pakistan. So it isn't linked all to India but Pakistan too as evidence shows. Even in the article it says north west India hence the Kashmiri style dresses. They share culture mixed from India and Pakistan but people only mention India and not Pakistan when it comes to talking about the gypsies background. Even though it was all India back then they should still differentiate between them!

When Ben Kingsley was interviewed on India TV, the interviewer spent almost the whole hour prompting him to say nice things about India instead of letting him talk about his work. The Indian media can be so infantile sometimes.
